Strategic human rights litigation in Palestine: Jerusalem training event and meetings with practitioners
From 24-31 January, Helen Duffy was in Palestine conducting a series of meetings with lawyers on human rights litigation. Discussions with local practitioners related to the role of the courts, and how to understand (and enhance) the impact of human rights litigation in the context of the myriad obstacles that Palestinian clients face in securing access to justice. Despite the challenges, important legal work is being done on the ground to try to stem the flow of forced displacement, the on-going construction of the "the Wall" and expansion of the settlements that violate rights on a daily basis and jeopardise the potential for a future two state solution.
